I was honestly never that into medical shows. I did watch a few seasons of House in college, but I’ve heard that that one is not the most accurate representation of the medical experience. I’m not really sure what to say about this. Medical training is an intense process and, after my experience, I still get triggered by the sight of scrubs and white coats. I don’t really know what to make of that. I’m sure it’s relatively common among medical trainees actually.
I also want to just reiterate that I don’t blame anyone for my negative experience in medicine. In fact, I’m sure I’m not blameless in the overall outcome. It’s just one of those situations where all the stars aligned for the worst outcome to happen. I think that overall, practicing medicine is a rather dramatic thing. Physicians are dealing with life and death situations and very emotionally charged events. It makes sense that it’s a field that’s perfect for television.
