It’s really difficult to move up

In the United States, the college a person attends is, for most people, the first mark of achievement and social class separation that they’ve earned (i.e. not born into). Whatever you choose as your starting point, it’s really difficult to move up tiers. First, you really need to possess the desire to move up, and, second, you need to ascertain the strategy you will use in order to do that. The decision to move upwards is largely dictated by people who reside in the tier above you. They are the ones who will determine whether or not you belong there, for they are the ones who have rightfully earned those spots before you.

The great thing about being in the United States is that this is a democracy that strives to be fair with the potential downside being that it may take a little bit longer to get there. Yet, fairness is in everyone’s best interest. If you do want to move up, the focus rests on both your motivation(s) in doing so along with the strateg(ies) you will use to implement that upward mobility. Do you figure it out on your own, or do you rely on other people for directions? The method that you choose will likely dictate the type of people you will come into contact with once you move up tiers. At the end of the day, perhaps the desire to move upwards is one that is insatiable, so you also need to consider when you will settle.
