It is a fact that the overwhelming majority of men and women fall within the heterosexual spectrum. If an individual experiences genuine and exclusive attraction to the opposite sex, then it makes sense that they would feel a kind of natural, instinctual repulsion toward the idea of being romantic with the same sex. The vise versa would be true under this logic for purely homosexual individuals. Thus, it is reasonable that the two seemingly opposite sexual orientations experience this somewhat opposing force against each other, and we do see that being played out in society both socially and politically.

I think the solution to easing the tension between the two “sides” is knowledge; yet, we live in a time where the attainment of that knowledge is being attacked. College degrees are more and more extolled by the, for instance, tech industry to be useless, and given this economy and the current distribution of wealth, maybe they’re correct on some levels. In this day and age, it could just be that ignorance is a little more profitable. However, the question is, are you satisfied with living in a state of not knowing why?
