I noticed that my new tattoo is more of a “functional” tattoo, which is great in the sense that it’s not just for looks–even though it looks great. It literally reminds me to become a better person, like a post it note on my arm. I really do love it because it’s not super obvious being in the inner left bicep and it’s sort of a subtle flash to other people when I want to show it off. It’s also not super hidden to the point where people just cannot see it at all; thus, I am really satisfied with the message and overall look.
I also appreciate how architectural the appearance is. It’s just a line of text on my inner biceps that reads memento mori and it sort of slides out of my left T-shirt sleeve. The font is not perfect, but it’s not bad either. I had wanted a kind of Hebrew-inspired font, but we ended up going with the old English version (which is totally fine). I think the freedom I gave to the artist just left it so that it became a bit difficult to pinpoint exactly the font I had wanted, so we ended up going with the reference image I sent her. All in all, I’m happy with the experience.
