Out of all the types of wine, apparently it is red wine that is the”healthiest” followed by rosé and then white wine. I picked up a few bottles this afternoon at the local liquor store and am just settling in with a glass of wine and am now doing some writing. It’s been a pretty slow Sunday as an original plan to watch my friend play tennis got canceled because of the rain.

Anyways, I was thinking about this physician influencer I saw on Instagram and how he has been stating that he’s gone completely cold turkey on his alcohol consumption since he was a teenager. I sort of get that level of sobriety but at the same time I wonder if that level of extreme asceticism is in and of itself not very healthy? Is it truly good for one to completely cut something out of one’s life versus indulging in it in moderation? The medical establishment seems to be mixed on that statement.

Nevertheless, the thought of maintaining complete abstinence in life has always seemed a tad snobbish to me. It’s not everyone who practices certainly, but it’s easy to ascribe this sort of air of superiority to people who cut things out of their lives in this totalitarian sort of way.
