If you ever find yourself in Beijing, you need to take the opportunity to visit the grandeur that is the Forbidden City. Sure, it’s probably not the most refined or tasteful option (it’s a bit touristy), but China did once believe in God and that God was in the Forbidden City. I think to an extent, God is still present in China, at least that’s what I’d like to think. It’s just that he’s migrated into the schools because, let’s be honest, what the emperors used to do to their subordinates was just a bit inhumane.
A significant portion of the United States still believes in God in a Christian sense. The stories within the bible can be pretty gruesome. This may be a bit controversial, but perhaps it is time for Americans to put down The Book and focus a little bit harder on education. After all, this country is experiencing a collective metaphorical emptiness for which religion may be an outdated solution. But then again, we are in the west…
