Of all the jobs out there affected by AI, computer engineering is definitely one that has had a profound impact, and I’m reaping some of the benefits because I do not know how to code very well. Coding has never quite appealed to me, and it’s interesting that, with AI, programming as a whole could be completely replaced. I don’t just mean having someone there to spot-check your work while you code; I mean, AI can literally code a script for you that works quite well. Since humans, just like machines, are prone to making mistakes, what AI codes for you is actually, at the end of the day, pretty good.
I think, partly because of this, I may consider staying in the biomedical engineering field. It seems that AI can make what I do actually doable on a daily basis. I’m sure the pace of the work will change, but the part that I didn’t really learn (computer science) has effectively been replaced by a machine. Maybe this is a sign for the better and that I should in fact stay at my current post rather than leaving for architecture, which again, is a highly risky endeavor. My mind is not made up on this front at the moment.
