I got to work a bit early today, and the task I had set up last night to finish by morning had not finished yet. So, I have a little extra time and thought I’d do some blogging. It’s funny how these sorts of things all depend on each other. The fact that a computer program dictates my work schedule is pretty part and parcel for an engineering job that involves a lot of computing.

This got me thinking about the importance of timing, in life, in relationships, in whatever. There is a saying that when you’re considering doing something, the timing is never perfect, and that you should just go for it. I think there’s some nugget of truth to that statement. The timing in many situations in life is never perfect, and it is an important factor in deciding whether to do something.

I think what I’m trying to get at here is that, as I’m starting to date again, I keep thinking about the timing with different individuals. With people you like, you want the timing to be exactly right, or at least as close as possible. Yet, there’s an element of not wanting to face rejection—nobody likes getting rejected. So you go about trying to get the timing of asking him or her out exactly proper, and that timing never seems to arrive. At the end of the day, there is a sort of just-do-it mentality to it all.
