Every night before I go to bed, I tend to have a cup of hot ginger tea. It helps suppress my appetite so I don’t get any late-night munchies, and it supposedly helps with sleep as well. I’m on high alert regarding my weight gain because of my bipolar medications, and I’ve actually been really good about it ever since moving to Los Angeles. I’ve lost a significant amount of weight and have managed to keep it all off, for the most part.
Ginger tea is also supposed to have a myriad of health benefits that I’m not going to list out, partly because I don’t remember them. I started this routine ever since moving to Los Angeles and noticing that my apartment tends to run on the colder side. My roommates prefer the temperature just a bit cooler, so I find myself wearing a sweater more often than not to keep warm.
The end-of-the-night routine is something I’m definitely working on to get back to a healthy state. I feel that I can do better at turning off the electronics when it’s time to call it a night, but something about my phone I just can’t seem to put down. I suppose this is a problem with a lot of people, and not just me.
One thing I’m also trying to monitor carefully is my drinking. Since starting back up the drinking habit, I’ve noticed that I tend to crave alcohol to a very high degree, especially in the late evenings when there’s not much on my plate. I don’t really know how to rectify this problem other than by brewing my nightly ginger tea.
