I’ve said it before: if the whole architecture thing doesn’t pan out and I don’t get the scholarship that will allow me to afford returning to school, then I think I will try to become a professional writer. Writing will perhaps officially become my creative outlet and replace the visual arts. First, I plan to find a medical writing job, where I will hone my skills in a professional setting, and then perhaps maintain this blog and continue to practice my craft. On a side note, this is also clearly the most lucrative path for me. Medical writing actually pays really well, especially in a major city like Los Angeles, where there are multiple biomedical research and pharmaceutical companies looking to hire.

Medical writing is currently the most rational option, but as I’ve mentioned previously, some of the most important decisions in life are not made rationally. On that note, I wonder what sort of creative writing I will do on the side. I’m not much of a fiction reader, so I can’t imagine that I will write any fiction in the near future. The next step is to look for freelance opportunities that will offer me writing gigs to improve my writing mechanics. I’m sure there will be plenty of options online where I can do that. I think all in all, I’m more of a nonfiction writer. I don’t know if I will ever publish a book or not, but if I do, I can’t really picture it being in MRI or neuroscience, for that matter. The biomedical engineering major is just not really compatible with either of those fields, in my opinion, for one to rise up to the level of an expert. It’s such a shame because biomedical engineering is such a challenging major that requires so much hard work. In the end, it still doesn’t really pay off much.
