I didn’t sleep that well last night. I’ve been drinking a glass of wine every night this past week cause my mood is just on one of those roller coaster sessions again, and I think I need to cut back. It’s not strictly unhealthy, but it’s not the healthiest option. I think after a few days of sobriety, I will be back to normal, and the magnesium glycinate supplement I’ve been taking has actually been really helping.

This got me thinking again about sleep and its impact on our overall health. Sleep is one of the most underrated aspects of contemporary American society, which prioritizes the grind. Unfortunately, I come from a family of people who need a lot of sleep, or at least the average amount. Genetically, there are individuals who can function with little to no sleep, but they are a strict minority. I sort of wish I were one of those people, as they tend to use those extra hours to achieve more in their lives. What a cool thing to possess.

Yet, I think about the seven to eight hours of sleep that I get every night, and I dare say that I am satisfied with that amount. I’ve been taking a lot of medication associated with putting me under, and I don’t know what the repercussions of taking all those prescriptions are. We are currently living in a very medicated society, for better or for worse.
