I missed a deadline yesterday. We were supposed to do two projects over the weekend and one of them took a bit longer than anticipated, or rather, I had to redo them because I’d messed up the first time around. Missing a deadline is sort of rare for me, but I feel that in architecture school it would be more of a common thing, especially during the bootcamp portion of it. There’s a saying that a piece of creative work is never finished, and I sort of understand why now: it can always be improved. I suppose such is the life of a creative.

It was the psychologist Adam Grant who did research on procrastination and how there’s scientific evidence to support that a healthy amount of it can lead to the most creative output. I’m not a procrastinator—maybe in high school when I didn’t really care all that much about school—but maybe I need to incorporate a little bit of procrastination into my routine. I think with this previous assignment for which I missed the deadline, I couldn’t get the timing exactly right.
