I went to a Death Cab concert on a Sunday night with my friend Jacob. It was more about seeing Jacob and catching up rather than the concert itself. The concert was alright; I’ve noticed I’ve sort of lost the ability to enjoy major shows, so it’s more about spending the time with a friend. We got there right on time, and the venue was pretty much packed with people—it was clearly a popular band. I ended up not getting any food or drinks, which was good and probably saved me a lot of money at the end of the day. Also, I left around 30 minutes before the show ended because I didn’t want to bother with the crowd: it was probably a good call.
I hadn’t listened to Death Cab since probably high school and college, and I think that may have been the case for a lot of the other members of the audience because it tended to be an older crowd. Going to the concert reminded me of just how sort of mediocre the general population is (no offense). What do I mean by that? I sort of mean like what I’ve been saying: how the average person is very average. In the way they dress, their body shape, their height, etc., etc. As a striver who works really hard and is ambitious, there’s something comforting about being in a crowd like that and knowing deep inside that I’m perhaps at least doing something right.
