Most people want to make enough money that they don’t have to worry about money. Unfortunately, it seems like that’s more money than we think in contemporary Capitalist society. However, I’ve heard that there exists a paradox to making money in the sense that to make a lot of money, you have to almost not care about making money: in other words, if you want to make money, you can’t chase money. Most people don’t or can’t comprehend this principle, and so most people will chase money: they will go after the highest-paying professions, they will buy the lottery tickets, they will do whatever promises the highest return at that given moment, and most of these people will, I imagine, fail at their undertaking. They will lose the rat race: most people do.
I think the people who are truly successful at getting what they want need to see beyond what the majority can’t see. You must sort of do your research (i.e., put in the work) and follow your intuition based on what you’ve learned. It’s a gamble, for sure, and it often goes against the majority’s intuition because, again, most people will follow the crowd and most likely chase money. The average person is average in nature, and so if you want to be above average, it sort of makes sense that you’d have to set yourself apart in some way. It makes sense that there would be some form of resistance or backlash from other people who are inherently average. I wonder if the same thing is true about love…
